Pet Cancer Awareness Month!

May 14, 2018

This month is Pet Cancer Awareness Month and we don’t want to forget about our furry friends! Cancer is the number one disease-related killer for our dogs and cats. With May being Pet Cancer Awareness Month, take the extra precaution and check your pet to make sure they don’t have any of the following symptoms. If your pet does have some of the following symptoms, it doesn’t always mean they have cancer or another illness, but be sure to keep an eye on it if it doesn’t get better. Also, if your pet hasn’t been in for their annual exam, it might be a good time to get that scheduled! Our pets need annual exams just like humans, so be sure to get Fido in for his visit and keep your pet happy and healthy.

Today is National Kids and Pets Day! The responsibility that a child can learn from caring for a pet is vital in their social development. Children that grow up with pets tend to be extremely nurturing and compassionate, making dedicated and loving parents and pet owners themselves. This, in turn, simply makes for a happier world. And who doesn’t want that?!

Prevention of Lyme Disease in Dogs Month!

April 13, 2018

One of Dr. Keller’s favorite topics, Lyme disease.  This month is Prevention of Lyme Disease in Dogs Month!  Dogs are very susceptible to tick bites and tick-borne diseases. Vaccines are not available for all the tick-borne diseases that dogs can get, and they don’t keep the dogs from bringing ticks into your home. For these reasons, it’s important to use a tick preventive product on your dog and vaccinate against Lyme disease yearly.  Here are tips for protecting your pet!
