Today is Mutts’ Day!

July 31, 2013

Today is Mutts’ Day! National Mutt Day was created to raise awareness of the abundance of mixed breed dogs in shelters around the nation and to educate the public about the sea of mixed breed dogs that desperately await new homes. The biggest percentage of dogs euthanized in the shelter each year are unwanted medium to large mixed breed dogs. Today is all about embracing, saving, and celebrating these wonderful animals. Consider a mixed breed dog for the next addition to your family.

“Pet flipping”

July 25, 2013

ALERT! Criminals have figured out a new way to make some quick cash, and it could involve your pet. “Pet flipping” is when a criminal will obtain a pet – often by stealing it, or answering a “found pet” or Craigslist ad and claiming to be the owner – and then turn around and sell it. Police report that pet flipping is on the rise, and purebreds are likely to be at highest risk. Worse, stolen pets who aren’t spayed or neutered sometimes end up caged as breeding machines. Pet owners are finding their pets for sale on Craigslist at an increasing alarming rate. Advocates suggest microchipping your pets.  Is your pet microchipped?  It is your only legal proof of ownership of your pet!  If you own a pet, please read this important article!

July 11, 2013
