What does your pet do while you are gone?

August 29, 2012

What does your pet do while you are gone?  Well, if you’re Dr. Keller’s dog and your name is Gracie, apparently you climb the cat tower and use it as your own window perch.  Gracie could use a lesson at covering her tracks though. Dr. Keller became suspicious after finding Gracie’s hair and toys on the tower, but it wasn’t until she was lost in slumber sunbathing that she let her guard down completely. Needless to say, Gracie was a bit surprised when she woke up and had been caught red-handed.  Image

Look who just got out of surgery!

ImageThis little guy is recovering well after his neuter and dew claw removal, and will be back to his playful self very soon.  You can’t tell in the picture, but he’s got the cutest Mohawk to match his playful personality.  While under anesthesia, Max also received a micro-chip, which is a great decision.  Now, if Max runs off on his own adventure, he has a permanent form of identification so he can be re-united to his family.  He may be young, but he’s no fool.  Great job Max!

Feline Distemper

August 8, 2012

Why should my cat receive a distemper vaccination?!  The feline distemper vaccination protects against rhinotracheitis, caliciviruses and panleukopenia.  Feline panleukopenia, caused by feline parvovirus, is what is commonly known as feline distemper. It is a highly contagious and a deadly disease in cats.  Canine and feline parvovirus is still prevalent today and vaccination is highly recommended for all pets.  Meet Fluffy and her owner Danica.  Fluffy was diagnosed with feline panleukopenia July 24th and after one week of intensive treatment in insolation; she is recovering well at home with her family.  Fortunately, Fluffy was lucky in that the virus was caught early and treated appropriately, making both of these cute girls very happy!
