National Pet Diabetes Month

November 21, 2016

November is National Pet Diabetes Month.  Not every pet parent understands that pets can develop diabetes, which is why many symptoms go unnoticed. Excessive urination is often the number one sign that your pet may have developed diabetes. This is especially significant if your pet, which has been housetrained for years, suddenly starts urinating in the house inappropriately. Other symptoms include a sluggish disposition, an unquenchable thirst, abnormal hunger and a sudden loss in weight.  Early detection allows the condition to be managed easier often with diet alone.  Simple things like monitoring your pet’s weight and annual visits to your veterinarian can mean a world of difference in keeping your pet happy and healthy. This November, remember to pick up on abnormal signs while observing your pet—it just might be a step to preventing diabetes in your dog.

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week!

November 7, 2016

This week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week.  Animal shelters and local rescues serve the estimated 6-8 million homeless animals who need refuge each year.   We work closely with Waverly Pet Rescue and there are many ways you can help support the population of strays in our community.  Please consider donating to your local rescue or volunteering as a foster family.  Please don’t forget to share with your family and friends that we always have adoption cats available at our clinic.  Currently, we have George and Autumn waiting for their forever homes.  Stop by and meet them today!

National Senior Pet Month!

November 1, 2016

November is National Senior Pet Month. There are many health problems common in aging dogs and cats that can be effectively managed, or often times avoided, if timely preventative measures are taken.  Unfortunately, just like us, animals are more likely to develop health problems as they get older. Routine comprehensive examinations by your veterinarian can detect many problems, but to detect other abnormalities early, diagnostic tests are necessary. Often, by the time symptoms are evident to you, the pet parent, permanent damage may have already occurred. To ensure the health of our senior pets, we have developed a wellness program. The senior pet program is designed to allow your pet to grow old in grace and comfort. To do this, we need to identify diseases earlier in the development of the disease process which allows us to be more proactive rather than reactive.  We are able to do this with a senior wellness screening.   We are excited to be able to offer this senior wellness package for just $98.00.

This important step will provide both you and us with important information needed to ensure the future care and health of your loved one.  Taking advantage of this offer also automatically makes you a member of the Aging Gracie-fully Club, granting your pet exclusive perks like:

  • Gift bag filled with senior specific information, joint chew samples, and joint health treats
  • A free bag of Science Diet mature adult food, specific to your pet’s nutritional needs
  • A picture of your pet will be featured on Facebook and our website as taking a stand in senior care
  • Entered into monthly and quarterly drawings for grooms, nail trims, toys, treats, and other prizes!

Your pet’s health is our primary concern.  Join Gracie and us in ensuring your pet stays young at heart in their golden years!
